Wildgate is a game built on competition, cooperation, and respect. To help keep matches fun and fair for everyone, we monitor player behavior and take action when rules are broken. Penalties are applied based on verified misconduct, either flagged by our moderation system or reported by players.
This article explains the different types of penalties we issue, what each one means, and how to appeal if you believe a penalty was applied in error.
Zero Tolerance Content
Some behaviors carry especially serious consequences. Hate speech, slurs, and sexually explicit content are never acceptable in Wildgate - whether spoken, typed, or included in a Display Name.
- Using this language can and likely will be flagged by our moderation tools, and will directly impact your account standing
- These types of violations may result in a mute, suspension, or up to a permanent ban
- You do not need to be reported by another player - our systems are designed to detect and act on this kind of behavior automatically
Stay respectful and inclusive. There is zero tolerance for content that targets, excludes, or harms others.
How Penalties Are Issued
Our moderation system, GGWP, reviews both text and voice chat for violations of the Wildgate Code of Conduct. We also take action based on player reports, especially when paired with clear evidence of misconduct.
Penalties are based on:
- Severity of the behavior
- Past penalties or repeat offenses
You will receive an in-game notification for all applied penalties. Warnings appear immediately after a match, while mutes and suspensions are enforced and communicated right away.
Important: Hate speech, slurs, and sexual content are not allowed under any circumstances - whether in voice chat, text, or in your username. Using this type of language will significantly harm your standing in our moderation system. These behaviors are often automatically detected by our tools, and you can (and likely will) be penalized, especially if another player reports you.
Penalty Types
We use a tiered system of penalties designed to escalate with repeated or more serious offenses:
Warning
You’ll receive an in-game warning letting you know your behavior crossed a line. No restrictions are applied, but further misconduct may escalate the penalty.
Short-Term Mute
You’re restricted from using voice and text chat for up to 1 hour. While muted:
- You cannot speak in voice or type in chat
- You cannot hear other players' voice chat or see their text chat
- Pings are still available and recommended for communication
Long-Term Mute
Same restrictions as a short-term mute, but for 1 day to 30 days, and in some cases even permanently, based on behavior severity or repeated offenses. While muted:
- You cannot speak in voice or type in chat
- You cannot hear other players' voice chat or see their text chat
- Pings are still available and recommended for communication
Temporary Suspension
You’re blocked from logging into the game entirely. Suspensions are used for serious continued violations.
- Violations like harassment, threats, or disruptive behavior
- Display Names that include sexual content or slurs (banned until the name is changed)
- Intentionally throwing games to sabotage your team
Permanent Ban
Your account is permanently blocked from accessing Wildgate. This is reserved for the most serious or repeat violations. Players will receive a permanent ban for:
- Using cheats or hacks
- Serious continued violations like harassment, threats, or frequent disruptive behavior
Appealing a Penalty
If you believe a penalty was issued incorrectly, you may submit an appeal. Here’s how:
- Make sure your Wildgate account is linked to a Dreamhaven account.
- Submit an appeal using the Penalty Appeal Form.
- Include any helpful context or evidence.
Note: We will not remove a penalty if it was correctly applied - even if it was severe. For example, cheating bans are not lifted unless proven to be a mistake.
Staying in Good Standing
Following the Wildgate Code of Conduct is the best way to avoid penalties. Treat others with respect, play fairly, and do your best each match. And if something goes wrong, your reports help us take action to improve the experience for everyone.
