In the heat of battle, communication is key - but sometimes, typing or talking just isn’t an option. That’s where the Ping Wheel comes in. Whether you're coordinating with random teammates or playing without voice chat, pings help you stay connected and in sync.
What is the Ping Wheel?
The Ping Wheel is a radial menu that allows you to quickly send contextual signals to your team. It’s a fast and effective way to communicate your intentions, needs, or suggestions - without saying a word.
You can access the Ping Wheel by pressing the designated ping key (Keyboard default: Middle Mouse Button, Controller default: RB). While holding the key, move your mouse or thumbstick toward the desired ping, then release to confirm.
Ping Options and Meanings
Here’s what each option on the Ping Wheel does:
| Yes | Agree with a suggestion or confirm a plan. | |
| No | Disagree or decline a suggestion. | |
| Retreat | Signal your team to fall back. | |
| Attack | Call for an offensive push on a target or location. | |
| Get Artifact | Highlight the location of an artifact, a key item that lets your team escape through the Wildgate. | |
| Need Fuel | Request fuel, which allows your ship to boost and move faster. | |
| Need Ice | Request ice to heal your ship. | |
| Waypoint | Mark a direction or destination. This can be a point of interest or just the path you plan to take. |
When to Use Pings
Use pings to:
- Coordinate strategy: Suggest plans, mark targets, or confirm actions.
- Request resources: Let your team know when you need fuel or healing.
- Navigate together: Mark waypoints to guide movement or draw attention to locations.
- Communicate without voice: Whether you're muted or just prefer not to talk, pings let you stay active in the conversation.
Important Notes
- Muted Players: If you're muted in-game (e.g., due to penalties), the Ping Wheel will be your primary communication tool. Make use of it to stay engaged with your team.
- Blocked Players: If you block another player, you will no longer receive their communications, including voice, text chat, and pings.
