Connectivity Issues with Sunderfolk

If you're having trouble connecting in Sunderfolk, this guide will help you troubleshoot common issues with online features.

Sunderfolk can still be played offline, but with limited functionality. While offline, you will only have access to Single Player mode and will not be able to use Couch Co-op or Online Multiplayer.

If you're connected to the internet but still unable to use these features, please try the steps below.

General Troubleshooting

  • Close the game
  • Restart the game

If the issue continues:

  • Close all running applications, then restart your device. This simple step can often resolve many common issues.
  • Restart your router or modem to refresh your internet connection.
  • Check for updates to make sure you’re running the latest version of Sunderfolk, and install any available patches.
  • If failing to connect with the Sunderfolk Controller app, ensure your mobile device or tablet is connected to the same router used by the Sunderfolk host
  • Try using another internet connection, such as:
    • Wired connection if you’re currently on Wi-Fi
    • Mobile hotspot
    • Tethered mobile data
  • If the issue continues, fully uninstall and reinstall Sunderfolk

Additional Steps for Steam Players

1. Check Steam Offline Mode

  • Open Steam
  • Look at the top-left corner of the Steam window
  • Click Steam in the menu bar
  • If you see Go Online..., Steam is currently in Offline Mode
  • Click Go Online... and follow the prompts to reconnect

If you instead see Go Offline..., Steam is already online.

Make sure your internet connection is active before launching Steam.

2. Verify Game Files

  • Open Steam Library
  • Right-click Sunderfolk
  • Select Properties
  • Open Installed Files
  • Click Verify integrity of game files

3. Check Domain Allowlist

Some players may need to allowlist the URLs the game uses for sign-in, online services, legal-agreement fetches, and content delivery. See URLs to allow on parental controls, school networks, or restrictive ISPs.

Additional Firewall Suggestion (Windows)

If you're playing on Windows and using a non-Microsoft firewall, additional configuration may be required.

You can try allowing:

  • Inbound TCP Port 7575

This may help improve connectivity in some cases where the firewall is blocking the game.
