Infamy System Overview

Ready to show off your skills in Wildgate? The Infamy System is an opt-in progression path that rewards you with exclusive titles as you rack up wins. But there’s a twist - only those who equip the Infamy Badge will earn (or lose) Infamy. This system is designed for competitive players who want to test themselves and stand out with hard-earned rewards.

The full leaderboard can be found here: leaderboards.playwildgate.com

How do I get on the Infamy Top 100 leaderboard?

To appear on the leaderboard, you’ll need to first equip the Infamy Badge. Only players who reach Commodore tier (200+ points) are eligible to be ranked. From there, only the top 100 players make it onto the board. This means climbing to the highest tier is just the first step, after that you’ll need to outperform others in that tier to secure your spot in the Infamy Top 100.

How Do I Join the Infamy System?

The Infamy System is not enabled by default. You’ll need to equip the Infamy Badge to start participating.

To opt in:

  1. Go to Customize in the main menu.
  2. Navigate to Misc → Player Card.
  3. Equip the Infamy Badge in Slot 1 or Slot 2.

Once it’s equipped, you’ll start earning Infamy points from completed matches.

Note: If you don’t equip the badge, you won’t gain or lose any Infamy - even if you’re winning matches.

How Does Progression Work?

When the Infamy Badge is equipped:

  • You start at 0 points.
  • You gain +10 points for each win.
  • At higher ranks, losing will deduct points.
    • You’ll never lose a title you've already earned.
    • You may however drop in points and lose your badge.

Here’s how the ranks break down:

TitleBadgesRequired PointsLoss Penalty

 (NONE)

00

 Prospector

100

 Reach Raider

300

 Marauder

60-1

 Star Captain

100-2

 Commodore

200-3

You’ll keep any title you earn, even if you later lose points. So don’t stress too much about a tough match - you’ll never lose what you've already achieved.

How are Ties Handled?

If there’s a tie in Infamy scores, it will be broken based on individual XP. If the tie still persists, the outcome will be determined at random.

When Does Infamy Reset?

Infamy progress resets on the 1st of each calendar month at 1am PDT / 8am UTC.

  • You’ll keep all the titles you earned, even after a reset.
  • You’ll start back at 0 points and work your way up again for the month.
  • This gives players a fresh chance to climb the ladder and show off their skills each month.

Pro Tips

  • You can only equip two badges at once, so choose wisely! If you're chasing Infamy and another hard play mode (like Kill Streak or Win Streak), plan your loadout around your goals.
  • Infamy is about consistency - winning regularly and sticking with completed matches will get you to the top.
  • Don’t forget that abandoned games may count as losses, which can impact your progress at higher ranks.

Other Hard Play Modes

Infamy is just one of four “hard play modes” in Wildgate. Each one tracks a different kind of high-skill play and unlocks exclusive titles:

  • Kill Streak - Players: Take out 10 players in a row without dying to earn Bounty Hunter.
  • Kill Streak - Ships: Destroy 10 ships without losing yours to become a Survivor.
  • Win Streak: Win 3 matches in a row to claim the title Reach Legend.

Like Infamy, each of these requires equipping the corresponding badge to track progress.

Whether you’re looking to climb the Infamy ladder, chase streaks, or just flex your competitive edge, Wildgate’s hard play modes give you a way to stand out. Equip your badge, jump into matches, and start racking up titles that prove your skill.

Good luck out there!
